Joseph Vanderschooten founded the company which bears his name in 1947 in Armentières in northern France. Originally a textile weaver, the company Vanderschooten soon developed into making-up, to become on of the leading players in the household linen sector, both in France and at international level.

Down the years, the VDS Group has expanded by acquiring companies with unique expertise:

• Alexandre Turpault : the Group’s exclusive brand, creator of fine bed linen, table linen, bathroom linen and home accessories in linen, cotton-linen mix and cotton.
• Coucke : department specialising in kitchen linen, table linen and kitchen accessories.

• ITC : a manufacturer of table and bathroom linen for the Essix Home Collection brand and many licences: Catimini, Designers Guild, Manuel Canovas, Souleïado.
• Norlinge Ensemblier Textile : service provider in textile and household linen supplies for the hotel and tourism industries and local authorities.
• Promotion and Gifts : Advertising department (formerly La Rivière): a manufacturer of textile items for publicity and promotional events.
